During the month of July, EVERYONEwhether it be families with children, couples, individuals, or groups of friends – is invited to volunteer to serve our partner ministries throughout Knoxville and East Tennessee.

Maybe you've always wondered what goes on at the ministries supported by Cedar Springs and felt called to serve, but didn't quite know how to get started. NOW is your chance!

Check out the many opportunities listed below for hands-on service, as well as other helpful events for the entire family, and click here to sign up. You can also stop by the tables in Welcome Hall and Reception Hall on Sunday mornings to sign up in person and meet some of our ministry partners.

Check out KICKO’s Sidewalk Sonday School program in action as they wrap up a 5-week summer series.
Sidewalk Sonday School is a children’s ministry that serves kids ages 3-13 living in Knoxville’s inner city and area communities. It utilizes a cube truck where one side folds down to make a mobile stage. These trucks allow KICKO to take the Gospel to 11 different locations with 4 teams visiting around 1,200 kids in our community. If you are looking to get involved with an exciting, outreach ministry then look no further. Sidewalk Sonday School is just for you, and family involvement is encouraged.

NOTE: The Wesley House and Thrive are only about 8 minutes apart! Feel free to join us for both events (lunch will be provided at Thrive).

Help serve food and eat lunch with the kids and staff participating in the Thrive summer program.
Thrive Ministers to at-risk youth in the Lonsdale area to share the Gospel through relationships anchored in the love of Christ. They do this through their three main programs: Thrive Afterschool, Thrive Summer, and Mentoring. Come meet the kids, serve and eat with them and hear about Thrive and how you can get involved.

Pray over each bed that the homeless will sleep in that night. Children will have the opportunity to make a card of encouragement to leave on the beds.
Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM) provides daily for those most vulnerable and desperate among us. They first supply rescue services of food and shelter, then offer healthy, supportive relationships. The ultimate goal for those who come to KARM in need is restoration...to God, self, family and community.

Heritage Assisted Living - Share a Smile ... 3:00-4:30pm ... *All ages welcome!

Children and adults alike are encouraged to assemble fun, beautiful crafts onsite and then deliver them to the residents of Heritage.
Heritage is a retirement and assisted living facility in Knoxville. Many of the residents do not have children or grandchildren to visit them, and their spouses or friends may not be around to socialize or keep them company. Because of this, many senior citizens appreciate a visit from families with children. Hearing a child’s laughter and seeing a child’s smiling face may be just the thing to brighten their day!

Meet us at Broadway Towers to deliver meals to the elderly.
Mobile Meals provides meals to those who cannot cook for themselves. They always need volunteers to deliver meals daily (Monday-Friday) and on Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you’ve never delivered meals but would like to give it a try with no obligation, this is your chance!

Come to the FISH Food Pantry to bag groceries and get them ready for the Cedar Springs delivery team.
FISH Hospitality Pantries operate four pantries in East, South, Northwest and West Knoxville. They currently provide food to more than 8,000 families every month. Rather than being concerned with who is deserving, FISH responds with respect to anyone who asks for food. They seek to nourish both the bodies and the spirits of those they serve.

Help make decorations and other various crafts for the upcoming Joni & Friends summer camp, and also enjoy a lunch on us as we learn about their ministry.
Working together with local churches and organizations, Joni & Friends forms outreach programs throughout the community, ministering hope and the message of Christ to those who face the daily challenges of life with a disability. They are committed to reaching individuals and families affected by disability in our community with the love of Christ.

Hop on the “KARM Caravan” to take tours of three KARM Thrift Store locations, learn about their mission, volunteer opportunities, and even go shopping after eating lunch at their Farragut store. Close-toed shoes required.

KARM Stores serve the community by offering affordable merchandise as a Christian ministry to the general public. The revenue generated through the sale of donated items is used to support the ongoing work of Knox Area Rescue Ministries.

Help serve a delicious lunch and visit with the apartment residents.
Cagle Terrace is a high rise apartment building for low income residents. Currently, many Cedar Springs members enjoy friendships with these neighbors thanks to relationships built through programs offered by local ministries such as The Love Kitchen.

FOCUS Ministries - New Beginnings Open House ... *All ages welcome!
Open House: 5:30-8:30pm, Volunteer Opportunity: 4:45-8:45 (2-hour shifts)
Park at Broadway Baptist, 815 N Broadway St, Knoxville, TN 37917 and walk across the street for the Open House, located at 826 N Broadway St.
Learn all about FOCUS Ministries by attending their New Beginnings Transition Program Open House. Feel free to come a little early (4:45) if you’re available to help serve refreshments to the event visitors!
FOCUS is a holistic prison and re-entry ministry serving Knoxville & East Tennessee by helping men and women on the pathway to new beginnings. The New Beginnings Transition Program allows men to make a successful one-year transition from behind the walls to productive member of society. The program provides housing, faith-based coaching, sustainable wage jobs, and a great system of support. You can join in the transition effort by becoming a member of The Cloud of Witnesses, a system of support made up of mentors, volunteers, pastors & lay leaders from churches and ministries throughout Knoxville.

Wrap presents that will be distributed to inner-city kids as part of “Sidewalk Sonday School” during the Christmas season. Note: Wrapping paper will be provided, but volunteers are encouraged to bring scissors and tape.

Tour Hope House, talk with a team of Cedar Springs volunteers who oversee the ministry, and find out how your skills can be used to make a difference.
Hope House is a CSPC residential ministry started in 2016 to bridge the gap for youth ages 18-24, single with no children, who lack the means or skills to help them be self sufficient spiritually, educationally, socially, and economically. A team from Cedar Springs walks alongside the residents as they continue their launch into adulthood by providing them with housing and a community of volunteers, professionals, and mentors.

Bring your kids and get to know the mothers (and their children) who are alumni of a substance abuse program associated with Safe Families for Children, all while enjoying a morning at Zoo Knoxville.
Safe Families for Children is an alternative to foster care. The goal of the SFFC ministry is to offer support in a time of need and reunite children with their families in a stronger home environment. This temporary care for children in need gives parents time to establish stability in their homes. Bethany staff work with the parents during this transition to identify steps to regain stability and reunite with their children quickly and safely.

The Restoration House - “A Day in the Life” Lunch & Learn ... 12:00-1:00pm ... Adults Only

Participate in "A Day in the Life," a free, one-hour event that lets you “walk in the shoes” of a low-income single mom. Take an inside look into how The Restoration House works to help single-mother families fulfill the goals and dreams that they never thought possible. Lunch provided.
The Restoration House is a nonprofit organization that helps restore single mothers and their children back to God’s good intent for their lives. Through supportive transitional housing, ally teams, and family advocacy, TRH walks alongside low-income single-mother families, helping them break harmful cycles and regain hope and a future.

Assemble single-use laundry packets, serve refreshments, and visit with homeless KARM residents as they wash their clothes.

Lighthouse Homes - Suzanne’s House ... 1:00-2:30pm ... Ages 18 & Up
Directions will be sent to you upon registration.
Visit Suzanne’s home in East Knoxville to hear her share her story of relocation and reliance on God throughout their transition.
Come listen to staff member Suzanne Stelling honestly tell about their crazy adventure of moving to East Knox to simply love their neighbors in the name of Jesus. It’s an entertaining story of prayer, gunfire, children, and basketball.

Knoxville Leadership Foundation - Amachi “Mentors & A Movie” ... 3:00-5:00pm ... *All ages welcome!

Bring your family to briefly learn about the Amachi program, then stick around for a family friendly movie with Amachi mentors and their mentees. Popcorn provided!
Amachi responds to the needs of children with one or both parents in prison. Through Amachi, mentoring matches are made and vital support is offered. Children with mentors do better in school, get along better with their families and are less likely to abuse drugs or alcohol than their peers. Having a mentor is great for any child, but for a child whose parents are locked up, it's a lifeline. A mentor shows the child by example that there is a better way. Mentors teach these children life skills that can literally save their lives.

Volunteer Ministry Center - Minvilla Manor Cookout ... 11:30am-1:30pm ... Middle School & Up

Join us for a cookout lunch and fellowship with the residents of Minvilla Manor.
Once the 5th Avenue Hotel, Minvilla Manor is now supportive housing for formerly chronic homeless individuals who have been guided and helped through the services of Volunteer Ministry Center. Minvilla is unique in that it offers case management services on-site, and twenty-four hour staffing is in place as well. The goal is for each tenant to reach his or her highest level of self-sufficiency.

Enjoy food, fellowship, and fun as we visit with the female residents of the Serenity Shelter in their new facility. Ice cream provided!
KARM’s recovery program for women, Serenity Ministries, provides biblically-based services including case management, individual and group counseling, spiritual support, and crisis intervention for women seeking recovery from the streets, domestic abuse, and substance abuse. During residential recovery at Serenity, participants receive the spiritual and physical support they need to confront the root causes of their problems and rebuild their lives. Guests consistently succeed in restoration with family and community in this Christ-centered residential recovery program.

The Love Kitchen - Servin’ with a Smile ... 1:30-3:30pm ... Ages 13 & Up

Serve lunch to approximately 50 people onsite, OR help bag approximately 150 bags of dry and canned goods to pass out to those in need.
The Love Kitchen provides meals, clothing and emergency food packages to homebound, homeless and unemployed persons. They work with local agencies to provide meals, secure used clothing, and donate services in the hope of promoting the self-sufficiency of those they serve.

Lost Sheep Ministries & Black Eyed Joe’s BBQ - “Under the Bridge” ... 5:00-7:30pm ... Middle School & Up
Directions will be sent to you upon registration.
Help prepare and serve food, as well as fellowship with our homeless neighbors in downtown Knoxville.
Twice a month, Cedar Springs member Joe Bryant, along with many other volunteers, prepares barbecue to be served to the homeless who gather every Wednesday night under the interstate bridge in the downtown area to eat, hear a gospel message and apply for services they need. This is done in conjunction with Lost Sheep Ministry’s Wednesday night outreach programs.

Take a tour of Wears Valley Ranch, partake in our CSPC picnic under their new pavilion, and let your kids play with the ranch kids while we all help wash the ranch vans. (Note: Playgrounds will be available for the little ones to use while the big kids wash the vans and play with the water hoses.)
Wears Valley Ranch exists to provide Christian homes and Christian education for children from difficult situations. Their students are typically described as “deserving young people with a problem in the home, not of their own making.” Nestled against the backdrop of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Wears Valley Ranch provides an ideal environment for healthy living. With the knowledge that each child is special and is worth our love and support, WVR provides a home environment rather than dormitories. The atmosphere within each home is one of love and encouragement where each child can know the security of boundaries and the acceptance of unconditional love.

Learn about unique opportunities and ways to “go deeper” through the act of service.
Do you feel God calling you to “go deeper” in your commitment to being the hands and feet here in our hometown? Do you long to serve Christ with your time, abilities, and energy, but you just don’t know where to begin? If so, this lunch and learn is for you! We will be hearing from ministries like The Restoration House and the Compassion Coalition, as well as representatives from our Cedar Springs Home Missions Department, all of whom would love to assist you in seeking how the Lord is inviting you into a deeper, richer, and more rewarding life of service to Him.

For a person to have the Word of God in his own language is perhaps the greatest blessing he can receive. That's the reason the Mount Pisgah Scripture Printing Ministry exists. Their goal is to provide the Word of God, without profit, to missionaries and people who are in desperate need of the Bible.
