Global Mission Conference

2018 Global Mission Conference

Sunday, March 4, through Wednesday, March 7

You're invited to join us for Cedar Springs' annual global mission conference! Beginning with worship on Sunday morning the 4th through our popular Missionfest event on Wednesday night the 7th, you'll have the opportunity to hear from and meet nearly 30 partner missionaries and ministries.

The following describes some of our primary events during the conference:

GIOTIS KANTARTZIS, a Greek pastor and church planter, will guest speak on Ephesians 3:7-10 and how the church is the mandate for mission. Giotis' congregation and many local partners in Athens have seen the Church take on extensive roles in their local community as they continue to embrace the Europe refugee crisis.

Giotis 2018

After Giotis speaks on Sunday night, meet our conference guests and enjoy some great food at the ALL-CHURCH SOCIAL immediately following the service in the Gym.

MONDAY NIGHT, March 5, God continues to shake up the nations through refugees and other migrants. Though it is no longer highlighted by the news media, the refugee crisis is still having a major impact on Europe and other parts of the world. On Monday night, we'll focus on local and global refugees. GIOTIS KANTARTZIS will speak again and introduce us to a Greek ministry that is responding to the Europe refugee crisis by leading hundreds of Syrian refugees to Christ. We’ll also hear about how our local refugee ministry is loving and serving refugees in Knoxville

TUESDAY MORNING, March 6, ladies, join us at 9:30 a.m. to hear from the women who are serving around the world and at home. Our guests will share their day-to-day lives, as well as their joys and hardships. Afterward, stay for a salad luncheon in the Gym. This event is sponsored by Women on Mission (WOM). Nursery is available by reservation only.

Men, while the ladies are at their luncheon, join our male conference guests for bowling and lunch (or lunch only, as your schedule permits) at The Main Event, beginning at 10:30 a.m. (Please sign up using the volunteer link at the bottom of the page.)

TUESDAY NIGHT, March 6, we'll highlight several home mission partners and tell the amazing history of how God has brought churches like Cedar Springs and key homegrown ministries together to bring transformation to the city.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT, March 7, we hope you’ll attend Missionfest, a night of dinner (two seatings) and mini-presentations from our conference guests. You'll have an opportunity to attend up to four breakout sessions led by our guest missionaries and ministries. Missionfest dinner tickets will be on sale during the week at the church's reception desk, and Sunday morning in Reception Hall.  (Click here for a list of Missionfest speakers and room assignments.)

In conjunction with our conference, Children's Ministries will present a special conference for kids, ages kindergarten through 5th grade, on Sunday morning and evening, plus Monday and Tuesday nights. Kids will learn the story of the gospel from creation to Christ so they can share it with others and experience how the church is telling God’s story in various ways all over the world. Each evening they will have a time of worship; be visited by a missionary; and enjoy small group time with hands-on activities. In addition, they will work on a service project for KICKO (Knoxville Inner City Kids Outreach). To volunteer to help with our children's mission conference, go here.

Mission-focused activities will also be offered Sunday through Tuesday evenings for 2-5 year old children in the nursery area. Preschoolers will be introduced to other cultures of the world, and learn about missionaries. Nursery care will also be available for birth through 23-month-olds on Sunday through Wednesday evenings. Wednesday evening during Missionfest we will have childcare and activities for children birth through pre-kindergarten age during the time missionaries are making their presentations.

Student ministries is kicking off the conference in a unique way by hosting its annual Blitz service weekend for middle schoolers. Students will also have opportunities to take part in other conference activities throughout the week. Check here for details
