Mission Devotional - December 11, 2016

Opening Prayer: Forgive us, O God, when we get occupied with the wrong things. When we get swept up in the commotion of the season and the culture, and forget that the universe does not revolve around us, but we revolve around you. Amen.

Scripture: Luke 12:13-21

Journal: What occupies most of your time and attention these days? What are you "storing up?" What would it look like to be occupied by the things of God? How do you need to be on your guard during this season?

Reflection:
watch out
be on your guard
don't get caught up
in doing your own thing
in building your own barns

it is so easy to do
especially
during this season

instead
always remember
that this life
is not about you
but about Me.

Prayer for the church, for others, for myself

Mike and Stephanie are working with a project called LEARN (Leadership Education and Resource Network) based in Beirut, Lebanon. The project's aim is to provide high quality, interactive Biblical training via Internet to Arabic-speakers wherever they are found. Pray today for Mike and Stephanie as they share and learn about suffering in Aleppo, Syria and Sudan from students that have come from those areas.

Young Life Europe is an organization that pursues and befriends teenagers to introduce them to Jesus. Jim & Barbara McNamee are taking on new roles with Young Life Europe as Regional Developers. They have been asked to develop a new area for YL - the Basque Country. They will also be working as Life and Ministry Coaches for YL staff across the region. Pray today for Jim and Barbara and their extended family.

Closing Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us to be on our guards against the tendency to work and toil for things that don't last, and thus to miss completely the One that does. Amen.
