Updates on the new Iraqi refugees – 6/19/08
We are so grateful for those of you who have been giving your time and your resources in order to welcome another Iraqi refugee family into our community. We wouldn’t have had the opportunity to reach out to them if it wasn’t for your generous donations and the gift of time. This family has been able to start this journey in the right direction because of what the Lord has done for them through us. We trust that He will continue to provide for the rest of their needs during this difficult transition as they try to acclimate to our culture and get on their own feet.
So far, by God’s grace, we have been able to take care of all the pre-arrival and arrival phase needs which went so smoothly. The followings are some of their post arrival needs and we would encourage you to step up to the plate and be part of God’s mission with these future Americans:
- Transportation to the different appointments & grocery shopping (this is the biggest need currently)
- Tutoring/ mentoring/ enrolling them in English Classes***
- Help them get their driver's license
- Donate a used car
- Help find employment
- Provide some pre-natal and post-natal care for a 7 months pregnant mother

opportunities, click here.
If you can provide any of the above requests, please contact Almaz at 291-5282 or almaz@cspc.net.
Ongoing Opportunities with the Refugee Resettlement Ministry
The Refugee Resettlement Ministry at CSPC is looking for people who would like to reach out to some refugee families whom God has placed in our care this past year. There are great opportunities coming up for those of you who’d like to come alongside and share the Lord’s blessings in your lives with those strangers who are still struggling to adjust to this culture. You can devote just an hour a week to disciple or lead our two young refugee men in a small group Bible study; or visit the refugee children at your convenience to tutor, mentor and guide them. You could also reach out to the parents/grandparents to help build their ability to take care of themselves and their families. Your presence could mean a lot to them as they always look forward to talking to someone from our church.
For more information or if you have a heart for refugee outreach, please contact Almaz Gemechu at: 291-5282 (Work); 201-0149 (Cell) or almaz@cspc.net.
