Global Missions at Cedar Springs
2010 Short-Term trips

Guatemala | Joni and Friends Wheels for the World | March 24 - 30
Reaching beyond our countries borders, Wheels for the Word is an outreach that opens doors to share the hope and gospel of Jesus Christ through the ministry of providing wheelchairs. Our Knoxville office has
made numerous trips to Guatemala to fit wheelchairs for children and adults ranging in age from 2 to 102.
The gift of a wheelchair serves as a tangible physical and spiritual gift from God. The 2010 Guatemala outreach will take place March 24 to 30 and will include wheelchair distribution in three areas including the Rio Dulce region. If you would like to donate a wheelchair or crutches for the Wheels for the World program please call the Joni and Friends Knoxville office at 540-3860.
Bolivia | Late June, early July

The youth mission trip to Sucre, Bolivia will work with the Quechua people at two churches that previous teams have helped build. Service will include VBS, construction, and fellowship-ministry.
The team will stay at the San Juanillo Bible Institute, and will work at both
K'unchu Tambo and Alto Aruni. The team will be joined by Paul Pittman, CSPC-supported missionary. Team will be picked in February. Contact Joe Foy (539-1182, foyj@k12tn.net) with questions.
Ecuador | Early July
A team will be sent from CSPC to partner along with the Christian Church of Picaihua in establishing a church and missionary training school in Picaihua, Ecuador. This will be the 5th trip to the Andean foothills of Ecuador for CSPC. Are you looking for a chance to minister cross culturally? Do you have a love for working with children? A few strong backs will be needed as well for assisting in the construction of the church/school.
Over the years we have seen God at work with the local believers as well as drawing team members into a closer walkwith God. We typically have very diverse teams (ages 15-60) that in the past have drawn participants from Ecuador, Chile and Spain.
Come join us for a week that could change your life as you serve our Lord.

Ethiopia | July 10-21
CSPC will send a team to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to work alongside CSPC missionaries, Andy and Bev Warren, and their ACT (AIDS Care and Treatment) project. The team consists of both medical and non-medical people. This is the second year that CSPC has sent a team to Ethiopia. Our time will be spent making home visits to the beneficiaries of the project, conducting community medical clinics, and various children's activities.
ACT goes into the community and reaches the poorest affected by HIV/AIDS and helps them with basic needs such as medical, social, and sending children to school. They also share the Word and Love of Jesus Christ. ACT helps people regain health, hope, and life.
Physicians, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants are needed for this trip.

Joni and Friends Family Retreat | July 23 - 27
Retreats offer families who shoulder daily pressures of disability the opportunity to enjoy days of fun together and also offer persons with disabilities the chance to have a volunteer buddy to share some adventures. We focus on the ability and give campers the opportunity to do things they many never have done before, such as horseback riding, zip line or catching a fish. Family Retreats offer spiritual refreshment and time to build priceless relationships with God and friends as well as providing a refuge for a
family to make memories together.

Family Retreat will be July 23 to 27, in Crossville, TN. Call the Joni and Friends Knoxville office, at 540-3860, if you are interested in being a Short-Term Missionary for Retreat.
Volunteers serve in a variety of ways including being a friend to someone with a disability and helping with activities.
Reports from 2009 Trips
Jamaica | November 2009
Spencer and May Boardman led a short-term mission trip to do construction work on a school for deaf children in Jamaica November 14-21, 2009. The Caribbean Christian Center for the Deaf (CCCD) sponsors the school. A group from Cedar Springs has been sent to continue construction work on the Montego Bay campus since 1992. The ministry of CCCD is to reach the deaf of Jamaica with the gospel of Christ, to provide schools where the deaf may acquire a quality education in order to receive the gospel and share it with others, and to assist and empower the deaf to become Christ-centered, independent, self-supporting citizens.
Ten people went on this trip. The work involved painting security bars on the principal’s house; making, painting and installing cabinets in the clinic; installing and painting a new door on the principal’s house; painting the entrance security gate; making frames for whiteboards and installing them in classrooms; and installing a ceiling in a classroom. The Sunday worship service was a highlight of the trip and connected team members with their brothers and sisters in Christ in Jamaica.
The mission of the team was to treat the people of Jamaica respectfully by letting them “lead” team members in the ways of their culture and allowing team members to come along beside them by showing them Christ’s love and encouragement. Several children who needed school funding were sponsored by team members as a result of this trip. Team members, along with the principal at the school and the missionary over the work teams, participated in devotions each night after work to share with each other how God’s glory was revealed that day. Lasting friendships were built with the students and the school staff that will continue throughout the years.
