Refugees
The Refugee Resettlement Ministry at CSPC is looking for people who would like to reach out to some refugee families whom God will place in our care this year. There are great opportunities coming up for those of you who’d like to come alongside and share the Lord’s blessings in your lives with those strangers who are still struggling to adjust to this culture.
To find out more about refugee ministry and ways you can get involved please check out our new website: http://www.cspcrefugees.com/
Here's what's involved when a small group adopts a 2012 refugee family:
- Set up apartments & welcome families at the airport
- Provide transportation to their new home & serve them warm culturally appropriate dinner (details will be provided)
- provide transportation to immunization, health screening, social security application, food stamp & Tenncare appointments, grocery shopping and the like.
- Enroll children in school & adults in ESL Classes (specific details will be provided ).
- Tutor/mentor children and/or adults
- Help with job applications, interviews, etc.
- Provide cultural orientation/take them to cultural orientation sessions at Bridge Refugee Services.
- Visit the family from time to time & build friendship with them
- Provide any help that would empower families to stand on their own feet as soon as possible.
CSPC has already approved the budget to provide transitional financial supports to these families. The heart & time gift of our members would be absolutely crucial in making this ministry happen and bring true transformation in the lives of the people we love & serve.
Almaz will be working closely with individual volunteers/groups to facilitate things & make it a pleasant ministry experience for everyone.
