Giving to Missions

What is the Global Mission Fund?

Cedar Springs has two major funds for ongoing giving to the church.

The first one is the General Fund. This fund is used to cover all the local ministries of the church, all the operations costs of the church and all Missions at Home. Missions at Home covers everything outside the church but in the United States. All church salaries are paid out of the General Fund.

The Global Mission Fund (also known as Faith Promise) is a fund that was established in the mid 70’s to promote foreign mission. The money donated to this fund is used to support our foreign missionaries and all other activities in support of Foreign Missions.

How do I give to the Global Mission Fund?

There are various ways to give to the church:

  • Cash (usually on Sundays)
  • Check
  • One-time or monthly donation directly from your bank account
  • Credit Card donation

If you do not specify where your donation should go, it is applied to the General Fund. If you want to your donation to go towards the Global Mission Fund, you need to indicate this. On a check, you simply need to specify the Global Mission Fund on the memo line of the check. If you sign up for online giving, you can specify how much should go towards Global Missions on the online form. If you give cash towards Global Missions, you will need to place the cash in an envelope and specify “Global Missions” on the outside.

How do I support Missions at Home?

General Fund Giving

Giving to the Global Mission Fund does not fund Missions at Home. Giving to the General Fund of the church provides significantly for the costs associated with ministry within the USA. In addition, members of the church can designate gifts to the Good Samaritan Fund and the Matthew 25 Fund.

Good Samaritan Fund (GSF)

The Good Samaritan Fund (GSF) is a designated giving fund of CSPC that is used to meet the needs of CSPC family members who are in financial crisis, such as a loss of job, medical emergencies, or other unexpected life events. The GSF team assesses an applicants financial needs and provides assistance where appropriate as well as referring the applicant to various other ministries or organizations that can provide assistance.

Matthew 25 Fund

The Matthew 25 Fund is a designated giving fund of CSPC that is used to meet the needs of those outside the CSPC congregation who are in financial crisis, such as a loss of job, medical emergencies, or other unexpected life events.  The Compassion Team assesses an applicants financial needs and provides assistance where appropriate as well as referring the applicant to various other ministries and organizations that can provide assistance.
