Get Involved

We'd love to see you using your musical gifts for God's glory here at Cedar Springs. Here's what to do:

  1. Become a member. Anyone who would like to serve in the music and worship ministry must be an active member of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church. Check out our New Member's class to learn more about membership.

    We understand that there are a large number of college students serving in the ministry. We do not require these students to join our church during this transient part of their life. However, they are all expected to recognize and follow our core values during the course of their participation.

  2. Submit an application. [currently unavailable]

  3. Participate in a music audition. We are always looking for new members. During a 15 minute audition, you will be invited to share whatever ways God has gifted you musically. We will also discuss the vision for the music ministries at Cedar Springs and how your talents may be used in the pursuit of Christ.

  4. Wait for an invitation. Those who audition will receive a letter or phone call informing them of possible areas of service, and in most cases will be called upon to serve as opportunities become available.

 

How to Prepare for Your Audition [currently unavailable]

Don't be nervous! The purpose of the audition is not to critique you. It's only to help us better understand you as a musician so we can find the best fit for you in the ministry.

  1. Login with the password you were provided after submitting an application.
  2. Now that you have logged in, an audio player will be displayed containing accompaniment tracks corresponding to the sheet music that is available for download below the player.
  3. Play along with any of the instrument tracks as you read the sheet music. We'll simply ask to you repeat this process for your audition. (The full rhythm section is #8.)

 

Specialized Instruction

Has it been a while since you played your instrument or sung in a choir? If you are interested in getting some feedback from a experienced educator specific to your instrument, contact the Cedar Springs Music Academy. There are several instructors available who are ready to guide you in rekindling your gift. Meet with them once, twice, or for weeks at a time.
