Sanctuary Choir

Summer Choir

Have you every wondered what it would be like to sing with the Sanctuary Choir? Did you used to sing with the choir but had to drop out because of a busy schedule? The 4 Sundays of Summer Choir are a great opportunity to explore the ministry of the Sanctuary Choir or to just enjoy singing with this great group again. The choir will meet in the rehearsal hall at 8 a.m. to rehearse an easy anthem and then they will sing in both morning worship services. There are no Wednesday night rehearsals. The Summer Choir will sing on May 27, June 3, June 10 and June 24. (On June 17 the Rejoice! Choir will be leading us in worship.)

The Sanctuary Choir leads in worship on a regular basis through anthems, congregational song, and other service music.  The choir meets to rehearse on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. in the East Wing Rehearsal Hall, and is open to all adults.

Preparation for worship is the focus of the rehearsal, and as such it becomes an avenue of spiritual growth for the choir members as we consider the scriptural and theological impact of the texts we sing and how we might best communicate them through the music.  While we strive to give our very best, it is our ultimate desire to be open to His Spirit that we might reflect His Light to those we are leading through music in worship.

In addition to leading Sunday mornings, the choir also prepares special worship services and concerts throughout the year, including a Christmas concert, Holy Week services, and special seasonal concerts. The choral repertoire in worship and concert is diverse in style, ranging from classical works such as John Rutter’s Requiem to a concert with modern hymn writers Keith and Kristyn Getty and their Irish Band.
