"Psalm 133"

Scripture Reading:

Behold, how good and pleasant it is
when brothers dwell in unity!
It is like the precious oil on the head,
running down on the beard,
on the beard of Aaron,
running down on the collar of his robes!
It is like the dew of Hermon,
which falls on the mountains of Zion!
For there the Lord has commanded the blessing,
life forevermore. - Psalm 133 ESV

Prayer: How good and pleasant it is, O God, when we do life together the way you intended it to be done. For that is the way you designed it to be - a beautiful expression of the very life of the Trinity lived out in relationships. It is a way of being that begins to reverse the effects of the fall and makes space for us to be fully known and fully loved once again.

It is so beautiful and so life-giving that it is like precious oil being poured on our heads - soothing, healing, and fragrant. It is like the dew of Hermon falling on Mount Zion. It is where you bestow your blessing, even life forevermore. Who in their right mind would not want to experience life like that?

So show us, O God, how to live life together in unity. Show us what it means and show us what it doesn't mean. Give us the grace and the courage to set aside our own individualistic mindsets and be continually committed to turning toward one another in love and unity. For you made us to live in community, not in isolation. So help us to do just that. Amen.

Prayer for our mission partners

Lewis and Elsbeth are living in Seoul, South Korea and working with exiled high school students. Lewis works to make evangelical literature available to the nations so that people can come to Christ. Pray today for Lewis and Elsbeth as they use their teaching to build relationships and begin sharing the gospel. Pray for a Saturday morning English club that they have started and are hoping that students will continue to attend.

The Knoxville Leadership Foundation or KLF focuses on five important components of community life to ensure overall health within the city: family, youth, housing, racial reconciliation, and economic development. Chris Martin is the founder and president. Pray today for all the KnoxWorx job clubs, including the one that meets at CSPC on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Closing Prayer: Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.
