"Psalm 46"

Scripture Reading:

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

Come, behold the works of the Lord,
how he has brought desolations on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the chariots with fire.
"Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!"
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. - Psalm 46 ESV

Prayer for our Pastoral Search Team: Thank you, Lord, for being the refuge and strength to the Pastoral Search Team. You have been with them, helping them throughout this long process. So, when troubles or disappointments or criticism come, help them not to fear, but to be reminded of the protection and joy they have and will continue to experience as they walk daily with you. For you are the great GOD that cannot be destroyed. You will protect your people from the beginning to the end – no matter how chaotic, crazy or out-of-control things become. Lord of Heaven's Armies, be among them as their fortress.

Your works are glorious, O Lord, and even the destruction of the world will bring you glory. You can bring good out of any evil.

Therefore, help the Pastoral Search Team to be still and know that you are God. You will be honored throughout this church, this nation and the world. You are here among us, and you are our fortress.

Prayer for our mission partners

Bruce and Laura Harris directed SEND International's camp and conference ministry in the mountains of western Tokyo for many years. The Harrises have returned to church planting and are working in Tokyo. Pray today for the Harrises as Laura continues chemotherapy for breast cancer. Pray that God will completely heal her from the cancer.

Since 1996, the Mission of Hope has ministered to the people of various counties in Kentucky and Tennessee from which 80% of the residents no longer have jobs in the coal mining industry. From their first campaign helping 150 children in 1996, they are now helping thousands of children each year with food, hygiene, new clothing and new toys. Pray today for this ministry's work as they continue to reach many new families through their outreach to students at the beginning of this school year.

Closing Prayer: Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.
