The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
forever. - Psalm 23 ESV
Prayer for our Pastoral Search Team: Lord, we pray that the pastoral search team will have all the resources and information that they need. Keep them at peace and resting in you. Guide them in the right paths so they bring honor to your name. The dark valley of discouragement can cause distress and fear that they are not doing enough, but we ask for your presence to keep them from those concerns and protect and comfort them. Remind them of the feast you are preparing for them when they complete this important task. Pour your anointing oil over their heads to drive away doubts. May their lives overflow with blessings, for surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue them all the days of their lives as they live out your calling.
Prayer for our Congregation: Lord, remind us that you are our Shepherd and you give us all that we need. During this time of transition, help us to rest in the abundant provision you've made for us to be at peace in this time of change. Continue to renew our fellowship together, to lead us into good decisions and plans so that we bring honor to your name. Even when we are confronted with difficulties, opposition and apparent failure, help us not to be afraid, but to remember you are close at hand and always among us. May the church staff and your Word be protecting us from evil and providing the comfort we need. You are preparing us for a wonderful blessing. Help us to be ready and open to our new pastor when he comes. Then we will overflow with blessings and your goodness and unfailing love will pursue us as a congregation for years to come as we worship together as your people.
Prayer for the new Pastor and his family: We pray for our new senior pastor and ask that he and his family will have all they need: rest, peace, renewed strength, guidance so they bring honor to your name. Even when they go through dark and stressful times, be close to them so they are not afraid. Use these trials to guide, protect and comfort them. You are preparing a feast for them in the midst of challenges. Give him honor and blessings, goodness and unfailing love all his days as he lives in your presence daily.
Prayer for our mission partners
Carlos and Sandy Rios are planting Rivers of Grace Bible Church in the San Andres area of Guadalajara, Mexico. The church is growing, and many new families are attending. Pray today for the Lord's leading to a new place to relocate the church and the timing of that fresh start. Pray also for growth and protection of Cristofer, their newest believer in Jesus.
The goals of Kentucky Mountain Mission (KMM) and Youth Haven Bible Camp are two-fold: to reach the children and adults of southeastern Kentucky with the gospel of Jesus Christ and to train/disciple those that receive Christ for Christian leadership in their churches and communities. Pray today for the possibility of KMM director William Owens to travel to Papua New Guinea in the fall to help with a new camp ministry. Several young men from PNG have served with the Owens at Youth Haven in recent years.
Closing Prayer: Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.
