Opening Prayer: Lord Jesus, you made yourself nothing. Nothing! Not something, but nothing. And you call me to do the same. Give me the grace and the strength and the courage to follow your example. Amen.
Scripture: Philippians 2:5-8
Journal: How do you make yourself nothing? How are you tempted to make yourself something? What does it look like in your life to follow Christ's example of making himself nothing?
Reflection: If you want to understand the keeping, remember that it is not only an all-inclusive keeping, but it is an almighty keeping.
As long as we are something, God cannot be all. (Absolute Surrender by Andrew Murray)
Prayer for the church, for others, for myself
Global Partner Focus: Central America
Carlos and Sandy Rios are planting Rivers of Grace Bible Church in the San Andres area of Guadalajara, Mexico. The church is growing, and many new families are attending. Pray today for the church as it seeks to move to a new location closer to where many of the members live.
Knoxville Area Rescue Mission (KARM) provides emergency shelter and food to homeless men and women and offers recovery for those seeking a way out of drug and alcohol abuse. Pray today for KARM and those in the Knoxville homeless community that they will feed, assist and care for during the cold, winter months.
Closing Prayer: God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him. We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom, courageous in sea storm and earthquake, before the rush and roar of oceans, the tremors that shift mountains. Jacob-wrestling God fights for us, God-of-Angel-Armies protects us. (Psalm 46:1-3, The Message)
